In 4x4, you will quickly traverse the
plain which separates the capital from Madaba. A

the Church St George which shelters one of the most
famous mosaic, the Map of Palestine (the 6th century
AD). It will give you a precise geographic
representation of the region. From Madaba, you will
cross a picturesque campaign to Mount Nebo which at
820m of altitude, and dominates the Jordan valley
and the Dead Sea. The caravan will start its slow
descent towards the plain of Ghor, in a biblical
landscape increasingly deserted, vis-à-vis with the
mounts of Holy Land and Jericho. You will continue
to the ruins of the presumed site of Bethany "beyond
Jordan" where John the Baptist carried out his
ministry. After the visit, you will take again your
mountings to return the major part of the valley
where you will discover the probable place of the
baptism.. You will be the first to connect on camels
the Mount Nebo to Bethany, two places of pilgrimage
of a highest importance.. At the end of the
afternoon, you will join the village of Suweima
trough the Ghor plain not far from the Dead Sea
shores. It is in this area that you will draw up
your tents. |
| Day 3 |
The course of the Dead Sea to Petra
will be carried out the next day in 4x4. Early
morning, you will go along the Dead Sea, and then
you will regain the trans-Jordanian plateau by going
up to Karak. The stop in the village of Karak will
enable you to visit its famous strong castle built
by the Crusaders, as well as taking a pleasant meal
in a restaurant of high quality. You will continue
then your voyage to the mountains surrounding Petra.
A stop at Beidha, o little Petra will give you a
before taste of the wonders you will have to
discover the following day and will also astonish
you by the exceptional conservation of the Neolithic
site (7th millennium. BC). |
| Day 4
& 5
|
The two following days will be devoted for the
discovery of the sublime site of Petra. There will
be two days of walking. Lunch of the first day will
be taken at the restaurant of the site, whereas the
lunch of the second day is a peak-NIC taken within
the imposing framework of the nabatean capital. |
|
Day 6 |
The following day you are invited
to reach a new stage of your voyage: the 4x4 will
drive you to Rass In-Naqab where you will take again
the camels to go down towards the sandstone plains
of Wadi Rum. Thousands of mountains emerge from the
plain and offer a spectacular beauty. If its rock
formations are not a unique example, the
particularity of Wadi Rum is the fantastic red color
of the stones. You will have unforgettable memories
camping in this area, and you will be able to
contemplate stars under exceptional conditions of
visibility. |
|
Day 7, 8 & 9

The two following days will leave you the
leisure to traverse these landscapes that thousands
of caravans traversed during centuries. You will set
out slowly you to Aqaba, which you will reach the
9th day by Wadi Al Yetum. Leaving the cracked rocks
behind you will discover the marvelous blue of the
Golf of Aqaba, the opening of the Red Sea surrounded
